余均益風行大半世紀，講究新鮮原味，堅持不加防腐劑。余均益創辦人余兆基於順德甘竹灘鄉間習得煮辣椒醬方法，1922年來港在西營盤煮辣椒，拿擔挑上街賣而大受歡迎，1950年開舖，獲友人送贈「均勻調味成佳品益食何須用美腴」對聯，遂將店名定為余均益。
